Imperial Brands are currently recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to come and join our leading sales team in East Scotland. Areas include Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness and the Shetlands.
You will be responsible for setting the environment and culture for the Field Sales Team – which is supportive and have high performance expectations. The nature of the role will require very strong people development and organisational skills; as success will be delivered through others.
You will be responsible for delivering total area management – through people leadership and customer management (Key Accounts, Key Account Wholesale and independent retail).
Key objectives –
Drive Distribution, Availability, Merchandising, Pricing and Advocacy through a team of Field Sales Executives
Create great teams whose mission is to drive excellent performance in outlets – including Key Accounts, Independents, independent cash and Carry – and any other calls that are deemed suitable.
Developing self and others – creating an environment of strong commercial capability which will drive category growth within the Field Sales arena.
Deliver strong team engagement with company strategy and objectives

All candidates must hold a valid Full UK driving licence
Principle Accountabilities
Drive, motivate and develop the team to deliver high performance & achieve individual and team KPIs.
Ensure each team member can deliver engaging sales presentations, using various techniques and commercial information to produce a compelling reason for our products to be stocked and sold out.
Support the team to develop their depth of commercial understanding of all channel retailer’s operating model, including pricing and profitability dynamics including coaching the team to develop their commercial understanding of the retailer’s operating model, including pricing and profitability dynamics.
Utilise reporting systems as required to record and report on all sales call activities, and to enable effective performance management
Develop a strong working knowledge of our retailers, market and products – including competitors
Conduct field visits, performance reviews, audits, coaching, mentoring, identifying and bench marking training needs / skills gaps.
Skills and Experience Required
Experience in managing a remote field sales team
Current or previous experience within a FMCG field sales role
Proven experience of exceeding targets through yourself and the team you are leading
Exceptional influencing skills you must be hands on, a problem solver and trouble shooter
Can demonstrate development of individuals through Coaching & Mentoring
Independent self-starter who can maintain high level of personal motivation in challenging circumstances, alongside remaining proactive, confident, self-motivated and accountable.
