Graduate Engineer – Business Development Estimator

We are looking for a Graduate Engineer to join our team at LTi Vessco as a Business Development Estimator.

The purpose of this role is to support the preparation of sales estimates and quotations, assisting in issuing and following up on quotes where appropriate. You will play a key role in supporting company targets and revenue growth while developing relationships with new and existing prospects and customers within our target sectors. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a graduate to gain valuable experience in engineering sales, estimation, and commercial decision-making, with regular interaction with Business Development, Finance, and Marketing colleagues.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Graduate Engineer – Business Development Estimator, you will gain hands-on experience and develop expertise in:

Assisting with the preparation of sales estimates using established templates to support business proposals and quotations.
Gathering quotations for materials, sub-contract services (including transport, painting, equipment hire, etc.), and consumables from Approved Suppliers, contributing to accurate cost estimates and supplier relationship management.
Learning to estimate production hours required to manufacture quoted items, using standard fabrication schedules and lists.
Collaborating with colleagues in production and project engineering to validate estimated fabrication and welding hours and identify available build dates/production slots.
Participating in post-project delivery reviews to assess estimation accuracy and capture lessons learned, working alongside Production, Finance, and Engineering.
Supporting sales targets by working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams.
Assisting in maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential customers, understanding their needs, and identifying new opportunities.
Contributing to monthly sales forecasts and providing accurate data for Business Development and Marketing.
Researching market trends, competitors, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
Ensuring accurate and relevant information is captured, reviewed, and maintained in the company CRM system.
Complying with company policies, procedures, and ethical and environmental standards.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a motivated graduate with:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong numerical and analytical skills, with an interest in commercial decision-making and sales estimation.
A keen interest in the manufacturing and engineering sectors (experience in pressure vessels, Oil & Gas, Energy/Renewables, Nuclear, or Water industries is a plus).
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Good financial awareness and commercial acumen, with proficiency in spreadsheets and data analysis.
A willingness to learn about welding and fabrication techniques (prior knowledge is beneficial but not essential).
The ability to interpret engineering drawings to assist in preparing bills of materials and identifying fabrication requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
